Abstract
In this paper, the extraction patterns by several ethanol solvent of Panax ginseng and influences of some ethanol extracts on the tissue catecholamine metabolism were studied. The results obtained were summarized as follows.
1. In the gross appearances of ethanol(10%, 20%, 40%, 60%, 70%,75%, 80% and 90%) extraction pattern, the lower ethanol concentration of the extraction solvents, the higher turbidity of the ethanol extracts
2. The ginseng extracts by 40%, 75% and 95% ethanol included small amounts of several saponins.
3. The ginseng extracts by 40% and 70% ethanol included some lipophilic substances, but the 90% ethanol extract didn¢¥t.
4. The amount of cerebral catecholamine was decreased slightly by the 40% ethanol extract, but increased slightly by the 90% ethanol extract.
5. Cerebral MAO activity was increased slightly by the 40%, 70% and 90% ethanol extracts.
6. The content of cardiac catecholamine was decreased slightly by the 40% ethanol extract but increased slightly by the 90% extract.
7. Hepatic MAO activity was increased slightly by 10% ethanol solution but there was a tendency of decrease by each of the 40%, 75% and 90% ethanol extracts of ginseng.
